AYSO VIP FAQ's

What is the VIP program?
VIP is a program for players whose physical or mental disabilities make it difficult for them to successfully participate on mainstream teams.

How do I register my child to play VIP soccer?
You will need to fill out a registration form available online at www.twinsburgsoccer.com. You may also contact Kathryn Dougherty at kadougherty@neo.rr.com or 330-414-1902. Mail completed form to: VIP Soccer; 10188 Dawnwood Ct.; Streetsboro, OH 44241.

How much does it cost to play VIP soccer?
The cost is $25 per player, thanks to corporate sponsorship, donations and fundraising. Please make checks payable to AYSO #1026.

What equipment does my child need?
Each player needs to have a soccer ball, shin guards, and soccer shoes without a toe cleat. Gym shoes are acceptable. A soccer uniform will be provided and is included in the registration fee.

How long is the VIP season and when are the practices / games?
The VIP season lasts for 8 weeks beginning in late August. The practices / games are held back to back for one hour total on Saturday mornings. A schedule with dates and times will be available in August.

What are the practices / games like?
The practices / games are held back to back for a total of one hour. We begin with a warm-up, then practice and drills, and finish with a game. The coaches will act as the referees and stay on the field at all times. VIP does not keep score.

Do I have to stay for the practice / game?
Yes, a parent or parent designee must be present for each player at every practice / game.

What is a Buddy?
Every VIP player will be assigned a Buddy. A Buddy is a non-disabled peer volunteer who helps guide the VIP player on the field. This may be through verbal prompts, physical assists if needed, and lots of encouragement and praise!

How can I become a Buddy?
If you are between the ages of 10 and 18 and would like to volunteer as a Buddy for the VIP program, please contact Stephen Stoycos at 330-998-3880 or at sstoycos@sjm.com.

Can I get credit for community service hours for being a Buddy?
Yes, you can receive community service credit. Please bring your school form to each session to be filled out.

Can I help coach my child’s team?
If you are interesting in coaching, please contact Scotte Rorabaugh at 330-688-9593 or at scotte@noga.org.

Sponsorship:
The VIP program is always looking for corporate sponsors and/or donations to help keep the registration cost down for our special needs families. If you are interested in more details, please contact Scotte Rorabaugh at 330-688-9593 or at scotte@noga.org.
